Maximize Your Membership - Volunteer with WIAYour leadership is needed! Volunteering with WIA is a key way to maximize your membership investment. Build relationships, learn something new, and make your voice heard. All WIA members are welcomed and encouraged to participate on a committee. Below you will find a full summary of all WIA volunteer opportunities. Each committee is led by a Chair and a Chair-Elect, each with 2 year terms. You may submit your interest on the form below. Awards CommitteeThe Awards Committee supports the mission and visibility of the Wood Industry Association by recognizing excellence and leadership in the industry. The Committee oversees the Wooden Globe Awards, promotes the Educator of the Year Award (with selection managed by the Education Committee), and selects the recipient of the Baldwin Award. Through these efforts, the Committee ensures that WIA’s awards reflect the values, innovation, and achievements that drive the wood industry forward. Wooden Globe AwardsThe Ralph B. Baldwin Award Education CommitteeThe Education Committee is dedicated to fostering educational excellence and equity by providing financial resources via grants or scholarships. The mission is to empower students and educators with resources to enhance interest in the woodworking industry, improve learning experiences, promote academic achievement, and ensure that every student has the opportunity to succeed. The Committee selects the Educator of the Year Award and oversees the scholarship program, school grant program, Manufacturing Day support, and any other education-related initiatives. Wooden Globe AwardsScholarships International Business Development CommitteeThe International Business Development Committee is dedicated to promoting and facilitating international engagement among all members. The Committee serves to encourage member companies to develop and execute import and export strategies. The Committee seeks to be a resource to members in areas such as regulatory compliance, logistics, trade policy, trade missions, and international trade show participation. Export ResourcesMarketing CommitteeThe Marketing Task Force develops and executes strategic marketing plans to increase the WIA's visibility and engagement throughout the industry, enhance communications to members and non-members, and continuously improve the WIA brand. Membership CommitteeThe Membership Committee supports the growth and strength of the Association by identifying, engaging and enrolling new members. The Committee ensures that WIA’s membership offerings align with industry needs and the Association’s mission by advising on membership benefits, programs, and services to enhance recruitment and retention. The Membership Committee supports outreach efforts and encourages engagement through volunteer opportunities and participation in events. National Affairs CommitteeThe National Affairs Committee contributes to WIA's mission and strategic goals by representing WIA's position on federal and state legislative and regulatory matters affecting the industry, as well as keeping members informed of developments which will impact their businesses. Technical Standards CommitteeThe Technical Standards Committee advocates for WIA member interests in national and international standards development, including participation in ANSI, ISO, and related bodies. It educates members on the business impact of standards and shares updates on key developments. The committee includes WIA member representatives on the ANSI-Accredited Standards Committee O1 (ASC O1), the U.S. Technical Advisory Group (U.S. TAG) to ISO/TC 39/SC 4, and other interested WIA members. ANSI Standards | ISO StandardsTechnology CommitteeThe Technology Committee serves as a knowledge resource and forward-looking advisory group within the Wood Industry Association, focused on identifying and exploring emerging technologies that impact the wood industry. Through participation in industry-adjacent events and collaborative outreach, committee members develop resources to inform, educate, and inspire association members. The committee also contributes programming for the annual Wood Industry Conference (WIC) with a focus on practical, forward-looking applications of technology. |
