Since February 1989, the US Department of Commerce has granted limited antitrust protection for certain export-related activities of members of the WMMA that elected to be covered under the WMMA® Export Trade Certificate (ETC).  As a result of the merger of WMMA into WMIA, the WMMA ETC is no longer valid, and WIA is in the process of applying for a new ETC.

The new WIA Certificate will afford certain protections related to activities conducted by one or more WIA members for exports from the U.S. to all markets outside the United States. These activities may include joint promotional activities, such as advertising and trade shows, and information exchanges aimed at developing existing or new export markets.

We will be applying for a new Export Trade Certificate for WIA for 2024.

If you would like to be a member of the WIA’s Export Trade Certificate, please contact Fred Stringfellow at fred@woodindustry.org. Information is due no later than April 1, 2024.

Your company will be asked to provide the dollar value of your company’s domestic (US) sales and total export sales for the previous two fiscal years (2023 and 2022). This information will be part of WIA’s application to the Department of Commerce, but will be kept in strict confidence.
