The illustrious Renaissance Vinoy St. Petersburg Resort & Golf Club served as the perfect backdrop for the 2024 Wood Industry Conference. Much like the resort which has emerged better than ever after a complete renovation, WMMA and WMIA have undergone a remarkable transformation, joining forces to form the new and improved Wood Industry Association. This inaugural gathering of the Wood Industry Conference post-merger not only symbolizes but solidifies the newfound strength and unity of the association, promising an era of unprecedented growth and collaboration.
For the first time, members of the association had the opportunity to break out into Sections that best represent their company’s position in the supply chain to elect a Chair, discuss topics that are important to them and determine a meeting/communication schedule moving forward.
Distributors: The discussion centered around enhancing communication channels to effectively relay member benefits tailored for Distributor members as well as introducing customized programming to address specific needs within this Section.
Domestic Manufacturers: Emphasizing the significance of staying abreast of developments, Domestic Manufacturers underscored the necessity of actively engaging in both American and international standards development processes to remain competitive and ensure product quality and compliance.
Foreign Manufacturers/Importers: Expressing a keen interest in staying updated, Foreign Manufacturers/Importers highlighted the importance of receiving timely notifications regarding fluctuations in exchange rates, evolving European standards, as well as changes in taxes, tariffs, and duties that could potentially influence their operational landscape.
Throughout the event, there was a palpable sense of optimism and enthusiasm for the future of the wood industry, underscored by a collective commitment to driving positive change and fostering innovation.
